ALTA holds its Annual Conference in July of each year with the event being rotated across different law schools. The Conference provides a supportive environment for academics to present papers on research areas of interest and also the opportunity to develop friendships and connect with academic colleagues within the Australasian region.
The ALTA 2018 Conference ran from 4-6 July at Curtin University’s Law School in Perth, Western Australia. The Conference ran on the theme The Merchant of Venice which was embraced throughout the Conference in speaker presentations. The conference committee included Hugh Finn, Anna Bunn, Helen Hodgson, Fiona Davin, Eileen Webb, Leigh Smith, Prafula Pearce, Tanya Castlemain and chair of the committee, Paul Fairall. ALTA 2018 saw a total of 120 delegates attend with 71 presenters contributing 69 presentations to the conference program, ending with a final energy-filled debate to round out the conference. The keynote speakers included a fantastic lineup of international, national and local speakers including Emeritus Professor Rosalind Croucher AM, Nicholas Hasluck AM, QC, Mitch Kowalski, Professor William MacNeil, Associate Professor Kieran Tranter and Raelene Webb QC. The Welcome Function held at Curtin University St George’s Terrace provided a fantastic welcome to the conference for delegates, followed by a themed Conference Dinner at the iconic Perth location, Frasers Kings Park, both of which provided delegates with great opportunities to network and catch up with old friends in the industry. We hope all delegates enjoyed themselves as much as the organising committee enjoyed the planning and delivery of ALTA 2018 Previous ALTA ConferencesThere is information available on previous ALTA conferences. |
